Ruwatan Rambut Gimbal

Dieng Culture Festival (DCF), that is how people usually know it. As its name, this festival is a blend of local culture society, potentials of local nature tourism and also empowerment of local society in dieng pletau. DCF has been going/held since 2010.

One uniqueness from the entire activities of DCF, there is one ritual which is named Ruwatan Rambut Gimbal. RRG ritual performs a haircutting procession of gimbal children in dieng pletau. According to local society story, the gimbal hair of gimbal children is not made by heredity from their parents. It grows naturally and also grow when the children ever have a very high fever before One day before the ritual, gimbal children must do another ritual first. It’s called Napak Tilas. The children will visit a holy places, like temples and other. In that places, they will pray and ask for all good things will come for tomorrow ritual.
